An almost total lack of ice time showed every time he stepped on to the ice in anger. With the new restrictions on the number of GB players over the age of 23 coming in next season I don’t think we’ll see him in a Panthers shirt again.
Just three appearances from Green this season, all of which ended in losses. If the coaching team have no faith in him (which the lack of minutes would suggest) then they have to replace him with a younger British prospect.
Another season for Dan and at 34 you have to wonder if there are many more at the top flight. After 7 seasons with us and winning pretty much everything possible, being third string behind 2 import netminders may just see him drop down a level to enjoy the remaining time in his career, or maybe even call it a day. Sad way for the season to end for him having to try and replace Wiikman mid game after watching him stretchered off and losing the game in OT.
Relegated to 3rd choice and hardly featured, then “surprisingly” didn’t perform when he had to be called upon. Now is the time for the Panthers to be looking at a replacement GB backup, however, if they are going to go with an import number 1 and import reserve, something has to be worked out to get the British goalie some game-time at another club so they are match sharp when called upon.
Sorry Dan, I think it’s time to find another club at a lower level if you want to stay in hockey. Only a few fleeting appearances this season, but a combination of unpreparedness and lack of ability means he offered very little.
While much maligned by the fan base I think in the past he’s done a decent job but sadly this year he’s been on the periphery of a team that has signed an import backup netminder and subsequently wasn’t willing to include him in the rotation unless they absolutely had to. Sadly I think this speaks to a lack of confidence in Dan and having only seen ice for 3 games this season, I would say his match fitness is probably not where it should be. It would be unfair to lay the blame for our Play Off exit at Dan’s feet but sadly I suspect that’s what he will be remembered for this season.
