Hugely frustrating. I’d have put him on a plane weeks ago if I didn’t think he’d miss it.

Jono Bullard
Hugely disappointing, missed too many gilt-edged chances and frankly should have been shown the door mid-season at the latest. A player I will not remember with much fondness, especially after that shocking miss in the play-off semi-final.

Well, Bussières… I’m sure many will disagree with me on this one, and I have already put my tin hat on, but for me, and this is my opinion, Bussières is probably one of the worst import signings I’ve seen in my 17 seasons, and to put this into context, I gave him a 3/10 rating and I gave Matt Carter 5/10 last season!! A Power Forward who barely threw a hit and who didn’t use his size to protect the puck nearly well enough.

His season for me was summed up by a tweet I saw in January saying “You couldn’t score in a brothel” and this was proved in the Playoff Semi Final when he completely messed up an open net to seal the game, where he was in what seemed like acres of space with plenty of time as Mustukovs was down and well out, but inexplicably he fluffed his lines. I’m 99.9% sure it wasn’t a fix, but if I found out down the line it was I wouldn’t be surprised, it was so much easier to score than it was to miss. And that was our season done, no potential fairy-tale ending for Clarke and Neilson, Sheffield equalised and inevitably won in overtime, and that miss will forever stick with me as the reason.

I’m sure many will think a 3 is harsh, but I felt that whilst Shalla was the obvious choice for cutting, Bussières must have felt a huge sigh of relief, as he surely must have been pushing a close 2nd to be shown the door.

The most disappointing player of the season for me. Was touted as a power forward, so I got excited, but didn’t show anything like that. I don’t think I’ve seen one player miss so many guilt-edge chances in a season, topped off my missing the goal that surely would’ve sealed us a place in the Play-Off final.

Adam Reddish
More than a little underwhelmed by the contribution made by this season’s #91. Expected to fill the role of a power forward with his frame and undoubted ability to crunch guys on the boards, but too often found himself on the periphery of games. Perhaps Neilson’s brand of hockey wasn’t compatible with what the player could offer. His miss of an almost empty-net against Sheffield in the Play Off Semi-Final game ultimately cost us a shot at the Final, but this summed up Bussieres season.

In a podcast early on in the season, following a decent pre-season and when we were still on a CHL high, I said that my only question mark in the team was Bussieres and unfortunately it didn’t get any better than that. He didn’t seem to find chemistry with any of his team mates, wasn’t effective physically and sadly he will always be remembered by Panthers fans for missing a wide open net on the edge of the crease to put the easiest of goals past a netminder who repeatedly embarrassed us over the course of the season. Seven goals from an import forward just isn’t good enough and had reinforcements arrived sooner I wouldn’t have been surprised or upset to see him follow Shalla out of the door.
